Iowa Weather Report May 24th 2014

WIDELY SCATTERED PRECIP: There are no real changes regarding the holiday weekend with readings mainly in the 70s and 80s through Monday with chances of showers and thunderstorms around. The best chances today will be mainly in the western counties of the state while the rest of the state could see a widely scattered shower or storm on Sunday even through the chances aren’t that great everywhere. This pattern looks to continue into Tuesday and Wednesday as well with readings mainly in the 70s to lower 80s both days. There will be some sunshine around as well as this will not be an all day rain by any means.

EXTENDED PERIOD: It will cool down as we head toward the end of next week with readings in the 70s. Heading into next weekend and beyond, the weather becomes more active again with some showers and thunderstorms possible with another system that will slowly move through the area for a couple of days. This looks to be followed by another shot of cooler air before more precipitation moves in toward the end of the period. We can’t rule out any chance of severe weather with any of those storms but it’s too early to determine those chances this far in advance either. We’ll watch to see if this changes.
