Evening Development

5pmfront The Map shows the current position of the warm front and where development of thunderstorms will likely take place later this evening and overnight. There is a cap over the eastern half of the state leading to a lack of thunderstorm development over that side of the state along with the thick blanket of clouds from earlier showers and storms this morning into the early afternoon. When the thunderstorms develop, the main threats early on will be large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes before becoming mainly a damaging wind threat as the storm roll along the advancing warm front toward the E and SE. Heavy rain will be likely in the overnight hours into early tomorrow morning before the heat begins in earnest.
