The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has posted an enhanced risk of severe weather for Des Moines, Louisa, Henry, and southeastern Washington counties in southeast Iowa and an elevated risk expanding out not too far from that. A marginal risk exists for central and western Iowa. Storms are expected to begin firing in the mid-afternoon and continue moving east through the late evening. Large hail, tornadoes, and isolated damaging winds is the primary threat. Flooding is becoming a bigger concern also as we have stockpiled several days of rain on top of each other. An Areal Flood Watch is in effect for the majority of eastern Iowa due to this. Flooding has already been occuring tonight and is expected to only worsen tomorrow.
