All of Iowa, Forecast, Severe Weather

Iowa Weather Report April 25th 2014

ACTIVE PATTERN AHEAD: One, possibly two dry days ahead before a rather wet and stormy pattern moves in late Saturday night through the middle of next week. It will be mainly sunny across the state today with readings in the 60s and 70s. Slightly cooler air will move into the northeastern counties of the state on Saturday which will drop readings down into the upper 50s there while the rest of the state will still see readings in the 60s and 70s. There will be a noticeable increase in the cloudiness especially in the western half of the state later in the day. Showers and thunderstorms will develop off to our west and move into the state late Saturday night into the day on Sunday. Some of the storms could be strong to possibly severe. We could see additional storms on Monday along with some decent rains off and on through Wednesday as this system slowly moves to the east. There has been a lot of model inconsistency regarding any possible severe weather, possible temperature fluctuations, and rainfall over this period. It is still a very fluid situation at this point. We hope to have better details by tomorrow.

GOING INTO MAY: We aren’t seeing any real trends developing, as we head into the month of May. The GFS is showing some colder air that tries to make it into the area but doesn’t quite get here. We don’t see anything of any significance at this point, but we still have plenty of time to watch and plenty of time for it to change as well.
