The chart shows selected cities in Iowa and surrounding states of when the temperature was last at or above the seasonal average for the date. Cedar Rapids, Ottumwa, Iowa City and Moline IL, have yet to hit their seasonal highs for any date this month, and haven’t had a high temperature hit their seasonal high or go above it since late June. Dubuque hasn’t gone above their seasonal high since Jul 6th, a span of just over 3 weeks. Meanwhile many locations in central Iowa have just recently gone above of their seasonal averages back on Monday. With another cold front approaching and more cool weather to come, it will be interesting how long these streaks can go before a “heat wave” breaks them.
