The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch that will be in effect until 9pm for the following counties, Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Ida, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Plymouth, Sioux and Woodbury. Thunderstorms will form along a cold front that will move into the western part of the state late this afternoon. A few have already fired in South Dakota and have become severe. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats with the activity that forms in the watch area. A few tornadoes could be likely as well early on.
