After numerous days of clouds and sunshine, depending on what part of the state you were in, showers and thunderstorms will be making a comeback into the state later this evening into Friday. The main activity tonight will be confined to western Iowa, with Friday into Friday night’s event will be mainly in southern Iowa, with some chance of rain throughout the state. There is a slight risk of severe weather for Friday for the southwestern part of the state. Damaging winds and large hail will be the main threats with any thunderstorms that develop in that area, although damaging winds will become the main threat later into the night.
