Above Normal Temps, Turning Wetter.

Yellow Ash Tree September 22nd

It is now officially Fall, but it will be more summer like this week. for Monday high temperatures will be reaching near 80 in some locations of the south! upper 70s everywhere else. Tonight there will be a chance of Showers and Thunderstorms late in the night, with nightime lows only dropping into the 60s. Tuesday will be cooler with a better chance of Showers and Storms with a cold front. some of the thunderstorms could be strong to even Severe. updates on this later. Wednesday looks cooler and cloudy, with highs in the mid 70s.

Fall Colors are continuing to show around Clayton, but with the warm weather, the color season has slowed. Still Ash trees is the main color you will see, but Maples are now really beginning to show colors . The ash tree in our front yard has changed to a yellow-orange color. and now the ash tree in our backyard is beginning to show some yellow color. Sumac has turned to a red color. Maples are also turning. I’ve seen red and Orange in maple trees, although there are some earlier changing trees in color, most color you see on trees is green at this time, I would say were at 18% color. The neat thing is when I look at photos taken at this same date last year there was much more color closer too 50% this time last year. one thing that is making a difference is we have not had a hard frost yet this season unlike last year, when we had at least one hard frost by this time. looks we will continue to go without a hard frost, I’m starting to think we just may get though September without one! well at least this week fore sure! enjoy the warm weather.

Tuesday might be a bigger weather day, It looks like there is a good chance of thunderstorms, some could be strong to severe I will have updates on this. Tuesday highs will be in the lower to middle 70s.

Fall colors are just begining to show in the Oshkosh area, Check out OSNW3 for updates on fall color, and weather in that area! http://osnw3.blogspot.com/

  1. Derek, regarding your statement, “The neat thing is if you look at photos taken at this same date last year there was much more color closer too 50% this time last year.”, do you have any photos from last year that you could post so we could compare with our own eyes?

That would be awesome! Anyways, thanks for keeping us up to date with your fall foliage. I’ll try to do the same.
