2 ave SW Rochester-West Downtown August 18th 2011

Today was a warm day here in the City, My station had a high quickly warm up to 86.F after dipping to 57.F this morning, as the day went on it became more humid. Near sundown, I spent the evening walking around Rochester trying to get used to the city. The photo above was taken 2 blocks from the house where I’m staying. This is only a short 5 minute walk from the yard, and in fact, these buildings can be seen from the backyard! St Marys Hospital would be on the left of the street just out of view of this picture.

Further to the east 1 mile down the street is the part of Downtown most everyone hears of or sees pictures of. There are several 20+ story buildings like the one above in Downtown, the building above is not even the tallest building, which is 29 stories high. I timed my walk and this part of the city is only a 20 minute walk from my house, The Mayo Clinic building can even seen from the end of my street. I am still trying to find the best place to get a photo of the city landscape with all the Downtown buildings, I will post a picture when I find such a place!
