Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Northern and Central Iowa until 10:00 PM Tonight

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Adair, Allamakee, Audubon, Benton, Black Hawk, Boone, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Cedar, Cerro Gordo, Chickasaw, Clayton, Clinton, Crawford, Dallas, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Floyd, Franklin, Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Hamilton, Hardin, Harrison, Howard, Humboldt, Iowa, Jackson, Jasper, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Mitchell, Monona, Pocahontas, Polk, Pottawattamie, Poweshiek, Sac, Shelby, Story, Tama, Warren, Webster, Winneshiek and Wright counties, which is in effect until 10:00 PM tonight.

Large hail to 3″ in diameter, damaging wind gusts to 70 MPH, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, localized flooding, and an isolated tornado will be possible with any storm that develops.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe Thunderstorms can and do occasionally produce tornadoes.
