Iowa Weather Report March 25th 2014

NO VIDEO TODAY

GOES UP FROM HERE: It will be a cold blustery day across the state with readings in the 20s and 30s for highs with partly to mostly sunny skies. This will be the coldest day of the next week as warmer air is in store for the rest of the week and into the weekend. Southwesterly winds take hold on Wednesday which will boost readings into the 30s northeast through the 50s south and southwest. This will also bring a storm system into the state Thursday with a chance of some showers and perhaps even a thunderstorm or two. Rainfall amounts around a half inch look to be likely with this system as it pulls through. Slightly cooler readings on Friday will be augmented by much warmer readings this weekend where we may see 60s and even 70s by Sunday ahead of the next system that will drop readings back to near or slightly below seasonal readings as we head into next week.

EXTENDED PERIOD: The GFS still shows some active weather for the first week or so of April which may bring some showers and thunderstorms to the state at that time. Readings look to be near seasonal levels overall with some days cooler and others warmer. We will be able to pinpoint that down as we get closer to that time frame. Overall after tomorrow, we see no high temperatures at or below freezing for some time, but of course this can change on the very next model run.
