Blowing Snow Possible Around the Area this Evening

WINTER 362014

Gusty southerly winds are currently blowing some of the snow that fell on Tuesday night across area roads, creating hazardous travel conditions around the region that will persist through the evening and overnight hours. This has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Blowing Snow Advisory (Winter Weather Advisory) for Howard and Mitchell through 9pm and Cerro Gordo, Emmet, Hancock, Kossuth, Winnebago, and Worth through midnight.

Winds will begin to calm down in the late overnight hours. Expect sustained winds of 10 to 15 mph (higher gusts) reducing visibilities to below a mile at times. In combination with some roads being ice covered, traveling overnight is very hazardous, and will only get more hazardous overnight as temperatures fall.

Please use extra time on the roads or do the smart choice and simply do not travel. However, if you must, have a winter survival kit with you.

Stay tuned for further updates!
