At the 12:00am hour, those along or just north of the Iowa-Minnesota border were seeing snowfall rates of around 1.5″ per hour. A large band of snow exists from south central Minnesota through northeastern Iowa. We currently anticipate heavier snowfall totals the farther northeast you go. Austin, Minnesota has already reported 1.8″ in a timespan of one-hour (10p-11p). Roads are slick and travel is very hazardous in the advisory area. The snow should end before the morning commute, but may still be messy, so allow time to reach your destination.
