Iowa Weather Report 2/9/2014

Meteorologist-in-Charge Jeff Wilcox is feeling under the weather today and is not available to do the video this morning.

ARE WE THROUGH WITH WIND CHILL ADVISORIES YET?: Temperatures across the state today will again range from the mid single digits north to the low teens south. A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for northwestern and north central Iowa this morning due to below zero temperatures and 5-15 MPH winds creating dangerous wind chills in the -20 to -25 range. Monday will not be any better with highs generally the entire state being in the single digits. Some improvement is anticipated by Tuesday and Wednesday with highs on Tuesday ranging from the upper single digits in the east to the mid 20’s and highs on Wednesday finally back to normal, with upper 20’s northeast to nearly 40 west.

QUIET WEEK: Mother nature will finally gift us a calm week. Generally seasonal temperatures with little to no precipitation is expected. There is a slight chance of snow on Wednesday with little to no accumulation expected. Partly Sunny skies should prevail with breezy conditions Wednesday across the northwest.

LONG TERM: Another system moves in near the end of the run on Friday. At this time it is too early to determine how much or where this system will end up, however at this time it does not look to produce significant accumulation. Very preliminary totals from this would probably be in the one to three inch range, but again, it is way too early to predict how much or where this system will end up.
