A Wind Advisory has been issued by the La Crosse NWS Office for the following counties in Iowa, Winneshiek, Allamakee, Fayette and Clayton. This will be in effect from 7am Sunday morning through 1am Monday morning. A High Wind Watch has been issued by numerous NWS offices in the state. The High Wind Watch will begin at 7am Sunday morning and expire at 1am Monday morning for the following counties in Iowa, Mitchell, Howard, Floyd, Chickasaw, Adair, Adams, Appanoose, Audubon, Black Hawk, Boone, Bremer, Butler, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Cerro Gordo, Clarke, Crawford, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Emmet, Franklin, Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Humboldt, Jasper, Kossuth, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Sac, Story, Tama, Taylor, Union, Wapello, Warren, Wayne, Webster, Winnebago, Worth and Wright. A High Wind watch has been issued for the following counties in Iowa which will go into effect at 9am Sunday and expire at 8pm Sunday evening, Lyon, Osceola, Dickinson, Sioux, O’Brien, Clay, Plymouth, Cherokee, Buena Vista, Woodbury and Ida.
An upgrade to a High Wind Warning is possible in these areas currently under a High Wind Watch. Very strong winds with gusts to 50-60mph are possible Sunday with an fast moving cold front from the NW. Wind chills by evening may drop into the lower teens in many areas. High profile vehicles will be susceptible to the winds on mainly E-W roads with a lesser extent on N-S roads.
