Flood Warning Updates

There are numerous flood warnings in effect at midday. A Flash Flood Warning continues in Scott and Muscatine county. There is a Flood warning for Davis, Lucas, Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Lee, Louisa and Van Buren counties in SC and SE Iowa until this evening. This is for mainly urban and small stream flooding.

Onto River Flooding,
The Des Moines River at St. Francisville MO is expected to rise above flood stage this afternoon and crest 4 feet above flood stage on Sunday and fall below flood stage Monday morning.
The Iowa River at Lone Tree is expected to rise above flood stage Sunday morning and crest at that time and fall back below flood stage later Sunday morning.
The Iowa River at Wapello is expected to rise above flood stage Sunday morning and will crest a foot above flood stage Sunday and then fall back below flood stage Sunday evening.
The Iowa River at Marengo is expected to rise above flood stage this evening and crest just above flood stage this evening and fall below flood stage early Sunday morning.
The Skunk River at Augusta is currently in Minor flood and will crest around 7 feet above flood stage on Sunday. It will fall below flood stage Monday evening.
The North Skunk River at Sigourney is expected to rise above flood stage this evening and continue to rise to around 2-3 feet above flood stage Sunday and fall back below flood stage Monday morning.
The South fork of the Chariton River at Promise City is in minor flood and is close to crest now. It should fall below flood stage later this afternoon.
Cedar Creek at Bussey is in Minor flood and is expected to crest this afternoon and fall below flood stage early Sunday.
The Chariton River at Chariton is in Minor flood and is expected to crest this evening and fall below flood stage Sunday night.
The English River at Kalona is about to rise above flood stage and will crest (in moderate flood) Sunday morning about 3 feet above flood stage. It will fall below flood stage Monday.

It will be interesting to see how long this flooding occurs given the possiblity of Ike’s Moisture and the possible heavy rain with that on Sunday.
