Above is the rainfall forecast for the next five days. It shows Gustav’s moisture will move north and northeasterly toward Chicago. Over the next five days at least 1 inch of rain is forecasted east of a line from Guttenberg to Lamoni, with isolated amounts over 3 inches east of a Clinton to Bloomfield line. The heaviest rain totals will remain south and east of Iowa. This is dependent on the forecast of Gustav. If it moves slightly east or west, the amounts will vary, nevertheless a good deal of rain is forecast in the eastern part of the state, mainly tonight and then again Wednesday night through Thursday.
