Chances of Rain will be increasing Wednesday into Thursday across the state. Amounts will be up to 1/2 inch with isolated heavier totals. This won’t help in the dry soil Iowa has been experiencing all month. After all the rain Iowa had in the spring and early to mid summer, August has been relatively dry across the state. This will likely be one of the driest August’s on record.
Looking ahead to the Labor Day weekend, conditions should be perfect for Friday night High School Football with temperatures at game time around 70-75 and by the end of the game in the mid 60s. For Saturday’s College Football contests, Ames will be sunny with temperatures in the low 80s as Iowa State takes on South Dakota State. In Iowa City, perfect conditions will prevail with temperatures in the low 80s with partly cloudy skies as Iowa takes on Maine.
