Early Monday morning a complex of thunderstorms developed in and around Sioux City. These thunderstorms proceeded east and southeast into Iowa and began to develop further. Wind gust over 80 with some wind gusts estimated over 100 mph were felt thoroughout Iowa. Numerous reports of damage were recieved in a 15-25 mile wide swath from Carroll to Des Moines to Newton to Davenport. NWS Quad Cities has a good report on the storm system in their CWA including west central Illinois. This includes radars and satelitte pictures. This type of storm is quite common in Iowa, happening at least once or twice a year.
