MORE SNOW AND MORE COLD: Another disturbance moves through the state today with a little light snow. Accumulations with this system are expected to be in the 1-2” range with some isolated heavier totals. This shouldn’t cause too much of a problem but some slick spots on roads can be expected. The snow will move out late tonight into Sunday morning with skies slowly clearing from north to south. Highs today will be in the teens and 20s with readings falling into the single digits and teens for highs on Sunday. Monday morning will be quite cold with lows well below zero once again with clear to partly cloudy skies and light winds. Monday and Tuesday will be cold with highs mainly in the teens with partly to mostly sunny skies.

MIDWEEK THROUGH WEEKEND: Southwesterly winds will take hold on Wednesday that should help boost temperatures out of the deep freeze and back into the 20s and even some 30s across the state. A warm front will move through on Wednesday which may bring some flurries or light snow showers mainly in the northeastern counties of the state. This won’t amount to a whole lot at this point. A cold front comes through late Wednesday night into Thursday which could also bring a chance of some snow showers around the state as well. The big story will be the colder air that will come on Thursday where we could see temperatures steady or slowly falling through the day with winds out of the north. The cold shot is short lived as the winds turn southwesterly once more on Friday bringing readings back into the 20s and 30s ahead of another system that could bring us some snow late Friday night into next Saturday across the state with colder air following next Sunday.

LOOKING INTO THE FUTURE: The GFS shows a system that could bring some precipitation around the 17th and 18th across the state. This could be in the form of rain, snow or a combination of the two. It’s still too early to determine that at this time as it is still 10 days away but we’ll have plenty of time to watch it. Another storm around the 21st and 22nd will be one to watch as well if it continues on model runs.
