MORE COLD AND SNOW: Some more cold weather is on the way with some more snow with it as well. Today will be chilly across the state with readings in the single digits above and below zero. Warmer air will make a run at the state beginning tonight. Temperatures will bottom out a few degrees below the high today before they quickly start to rise through the night. Friday will be much warmer with upper 20s east to upper 40s west. However the next clipper system will be crashing through the state late Friday afternoon through the day on Saturday. This will bring some rain across the far west, sleet mixed with snow in the central counties and all snow in the east. Some accumulations will be possible with this system. Another clipper races its way in late Saturday night into Sunday with even more snow across the area. Some accumulating snow will be possible with this system as well. Readings will drop back into the single digits and teens for highs with lows going back below zero once again as we head into next week.

COLD COLD COLD: Next week just looks plain cold across the state with readings in the single digits and teens for highs and lows at or below zero. There could be some flurries or light snow showers on Thursday but that chance looks rather remote at this time. All other days we’ll have plenty of sunshine but it won’t do much good to warm the temperatures across the state.

ON OUT: It looks to still remain colder than average even into the extended period, although not as brutal as we’ve been seeing. The GFS continues to show some chances of snow in the first few days of February. This will be different as these will be coming from the west and not the northwest, thus more gulf moisture is possible which would mean a lot more snow possible if this systems verify later on. We’ll continue to watch for this trend to continue over the next couple of days.
