COLD WEATHER ON THE WAY: It will be mostly sunny today with highs in the upper 30s northeast through the lower to middle 50s in the south and southwest. This will be the last warm day for quite a while as colder air will move in later tonight into Sunday with a clipper system. This will drop temperatures into the single digits and teens for highs on Sunday but even then temperatures will be steady or falling throughout the day on Sunday. Sunday night will see readings plummet into the single digits and teens below zero. With a breeze blowing, wind chills will easily reach the 20s to 30s below zero.

CLIPPER PARADE: We’ll have a parade of clippers moving through as temperatures will continue to stay in the single digits and lower teens for highs with lows at or below zero. Monday could see some light snow or a few flurries. Another system will move through late Tuesday into Wednesday with some light snow or flurries as well. Another system will clip the northeastern counties on Friday with some light snow as temperatures will begin to moderate before another clipper drops in Saturday with more snow and colder in its wake.

FARTHER ALONG: More systems are possible in the extended period including one on the 6th through the 8th that could bring a plethora of precipitation which may include rain, wintry mix and some snow. Another somewhat significant storm is possible on the 10th with another one at the end of the forecast on the 12th.
