The Storm Prediction Center has issued a risk of severe weather for Iowa on the Days 4-8 outlook. The best days for severe weather seem to fall on the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, with a slight possiblity of an isolated severe storm on Friday. These storms would be forming on an advancing warm front Saturday and a cold front Sunday. Several MCS’s or Mesoscale Convective Systems are expected to develop and move across the state. Strong winds will be the main factor with these MCS’s with large hail being a secondary threat. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out either. If it develops, it would be the first bout of severe weather for Iowa in over 2 weeks.
