WARMING TREND: Temperatures are going to be heading above the freezing mark for the next few days across the state. It will be quiet to start with plenty of sunshine. Highs today will be in the upper 20s north to near 40 southwest. Wednesday will see readings above freezing all across the state with some 40s in the southern counties.
NEXT SYSTEM: With warm temperatures and winds out of the south, a new storm system will move into the area late Thursday night into Friday. This will start out as some rain in the southern counties and perhaps a wintry mix or some snow in the north before changing over to all snow by Friday morning as the storm quickly moves off to the east. Any accumulation would be light with an inch or two possible. Another system will move just to the south and east of the state, but it looks to be close enough that it might bring some light snow or flurries across the southeastern counties of the state. Temperatures will cool back off to the 20s for highs Sunday into Monday with another clipper system possibly bringing some light snow or flurries across the northern and northeastern counties Monday into Monday night.
FESTIVE END: The model continues to show cold air coming back into the state for Christmas with an outside shot at some light snow or flurries. The colder air looks to last through at least the 28th before temperatures moderate once again. Another quick system around the 29th and 30th could bring a chance of some snow to the area. Other than that, it looks to stay near seasonal levels all the way through New Year’s Day across the state.
