.A STORM SYSTEM LIFTING OUT OF THE PLAINS IS PRODUCING SOME
PRECIPITATION OVER FAR SOUTHEAST IOWA. THIS PRECIPITATION IS IN
THE FORM OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN AND FREEZING DRIZZLE WHICH WILL
MAKE CONDITIONS SLICK. THE PRECIPITATION WILL CHANGE TO SNOW WITH
LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS FALLING ON TOP OF SLICK ROADS MAKING TRAVEL
HAZARDOUS.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR FREEZING RAIN…SLEET AND SNOW…WHICH IS IN
EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM CST SATURDAY.

* TIMING OR SHORT TERM TRENDS…LIGHT FREEZING RAIN OR FREEZING
DRIZZLE WILL CONTINUE OVER THE AREA THROUGH THE EVENING COMMUTE
AND WILL CHANGE TO SNOW LATE THIS EVENING.

* STORM TOTAL SNOW/ICE ACCUMULATIONS…A LIGHT GLAZING OF ICE IS
EXPECTED WITH ONE TO TWO INCHES OF SNOW ON TOP OF THE ICE GLAZE.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY…THE WIND WILL BE LIGHT BUT VISIBILITIES COULD
DROP TO A MILE OR LESS.

* IMPACTS…ROADS AND WALKWAYS WILL BECOME SLICK WHICH WILL CREATE
HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS…ESPECIALLY ON SECONDARY ROADS. SNOW WILL
THEN COVER THE ICE GLAZE OVERNIGHT KEEPING SLICK CONDITIONS
TONIGHT.
