Iowa Weather Report November 2nd 2013 – Iowa Weather Network Archives

EARLY ON: Sunshine around for the first weekend of November with highs in the 40s and 50s today which will rise into the 50s to lower 60s Sunday as winds will veer around to the south. This will be ahead of a storm system that will swing through the state on Monday with a little bit of precipitation. Most of the activity will be to our north however. The next wave of moisture will come up from the southwest Tuesday into early on Wednesday. There will be some tropical connections with this system as part of the moisture will be from what is now Tropical Depression 18E in the Eastern Pacific south of Cabo San Lucas Mexico. This system is expected to become Tropical Storm Sonia later today (however it still remains disorganized as of this posting). With the tropical connections, Tuesday looks to be quite wet with moderate to at times heavy rain possible. There could be some embedded thunderstorms mixed in as well. As colder air sweeps in behind the departing storm system, there is a chance that the precipitation could change over to a wintry mix before ending Wednesday morning. It’s still too early to determine that at this time, but it is something that we’ll have to keep watch on. In any case, it shouldn’t amount to a whole lot as most of the precipitation will be off to the east by the time the colder air arrives.

END OF NEXT WEEK: Temperatures will drop off for a few days, Wednesday and Thursday of next week with mainly sunny skies around, before winds again swing back around to the south on Friday boosting readings back into the 50s to near 60 at that time. This will be ahead of another cold front that looks to move into the state next Saturday but with little precipitation along it at this point.

LATER ON: A couple of storms to watch in the extended period include one around the 12th and 13th and another one quick on its heels on the 14th and 15th. Temperatures will remain near seasonal levels at this point with a few cool spells intermixed as well.
