OCTOBER WARMING: Temperatures will slowly rise through the work week with plenty of sunshine and winds coming back around to the south and southwest. Highs today will be in the 60s to near 70 with readings heading into the 70s for the rest of the week. This will be ahead of a storm system that will come into the state Friday into Saturday with an isolated shot at a shower or thunderstorm. Currently, the main energy with this storm will move north and west of the state which will take most of the moisture along with it, so any rain that does come Friday into Saturday will be very scattered and less than a quarter inch. This may still change in future model runs so stay tuned.

THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF OCTOBER: The pattern is a bit more active in the extended period with next week looking quite wet across the state with a system moving through. Cold air rushes in behind the system at the end of the week with the model hinting at possible wintry precipitation albeit only light (mainly flurries or a wintry mix at most). Temperatures moderate quickly with another system moving in a day or so later with a few showers and cold air filtering in behind that system as well. The rest of the extended period is somewhat quiet.
