WEEKEND HALVES: The first part of the weekend will be rather wet and cool across the state while the second half will feature plenty of sunshine and readings in the 70s. Regarding the rain today, it will quickly move across the state ending around midday or a bit later in the western counties, by the afternoon in the central counties and late afternoon into the evening in the eastern counties. Amounts will generally range between a quarter and a half inch with some locations possibly getting some higher totals than that. Skies will clear out during the night tonight leading to sunshine on Sunday as mentioned earlier.

SLOWLY RISING: Temperatures will slowly rise once again as we head into the month of October on Tuesday, back through the 70s and into the lower 80s by the middle of next week. This will be ahead of a system that will develop to our west and begin to move into the state late Wednesday night into Thursday with some rain showers and thunderstorms. This looks to last through Friday into early on Saturday of next weekend with much cooler air following the system.

EXTENDED PERIOD: The system at the end of the previous paragraph will form a cut off upper level low just to our south that will slowly drift east with time. This will keep some clouds in at least the eastern half of the state for a day or two at the beginning of the period. Temperatures will begin to moderate after that with readings heading back to near seasonal levels a few days later. The pattern looks dry again with seasonal temperatures as the main storm track shifts northward again. This looks to continue through the end of the period at this point.
