TWO MORE DAYS: Very warm and humid condition to continue today and tomorrow across the state with mostly sunny skies and high dew points. Readings today and tomorrow will be in the lower 90s with heat indices approaching 100 in some areas.

RAIN COMING IN: Still on track to see the frontal system move into the state perhaps late Thursday night into Friday with a chance of some showers and thunderstorms. The rainfall will be scattered and some areas may not even get any, but any areas that do should get at least a quarter inch of rain with isolated heavier totals in any stronger storms that move through. Severe weather isn’t likely although we can’t totally rule one out. Cooler conditions look to prevail through the weekend with highs in the lower 80s with much lower humidity.

RAGBRAI XLI: RAGBRAI begins Sunday out in Council Bluffs before ending the following Saturday in Fort Madison. The GFS is showing a threat of some showers and storms beginning late Sunday in western Iowa near the first stop of the ride in Harlan through at least Wednesday where the ride will be overnighting in Knoxville. Temperatures look right now to be in the 80s with some sunshine intermixed with the rain threats, but it won’t be a total washout by any means. It will be nothing like last year scorching heat though. Past that point, the ridge looks to bring the heat back toward the end of the month into the first of August but it won’t be as strong as the current ridge we’re seeing right now.
