MAINLY HOT AND DRY: The ridge over us will keep most of the state dry over the next several days, but there is an outside chance at a shower or storm today mainly over the eastern half of the state. The chances aren’t that great, about 20% or so, but it’s worth mentioning nonetheless. Highs today will be in the 80s to around 90 with mainly sunny skies across the state outside of the possible storms. This will continue through at least Thursday with readings in the 80s to lower 90s, moderate to high humidity and mostly sunny skies.
RAIN CHANCES COMING BACK: Rain looks to return to the state on Friday into Saturday as a front will sag into the state from the north. This will also suppress the ridge to the south. Any rainfall will be welcome in many areas that haven’t seen rain in a while (outside the ones that got rain on Saturday). Thereafter temperatures will cool slightly Sunday and Monday but a warm front will try to move back into the state late on Monday and with it the chances of showers and storms look to return then as well.
TOWARD THE END OF JULY: The GFS has been showing no real trend when looking out toward the end of the month, at least at this time. The model is showing seasonal readings as the weather pattern looks to become more zonal across the northern tier of the country. This would bring some chances of showers and storms to the area every few days with some dry periods intermixed as well. A ridge looks to build up again toward the end of the period but unlike the last few days where it was off to our west and staying there, it will move through the state and set up over the southeastern part of the country. Not much confidence at this time, but we’ll keep watching it.
