MAINLY DRY TIME: Seeing a lot of dry weather ahead for the state which is helpful for areas that are currently experiencing river flooding. Temperatures are expected to remain warm with a slow cooling into the weekend and next week. There is a slight chance of some shower and storm activity Friday and again Saturday but it will be widely scattered and many areas may not get a drop of rain. Temperatures in the 80s today and Friday will drop into the upper 70s to lower 80s by early next week.
4TH OF JULY AND BEYOND: Still looks like there could be some rain and storms around for the 4th of July but not on an organized basis at least at this time. The model shows storms chances increasing again by Tuesday night and lasting through the 4th (next Thursday) into the following weekend. The GFS also shows a trough still around which will keep cool temperatures around (likely highs a few degrees either side of 80). Still it’s too early to decide your 4th of July plans based on the weather. We still have plenty of time to look at it. The pattern looks to change a few days later to more of a zonal flow as a ridge tries to take shape to our south but there’s confidence at least at this time with that.
