THE WEEK AHEAD: A disturbance will move just to the south of the state but it may be close enough to trigger a few widely scattered showers and thunderstorms especially in the eastern counties of the state. Some areas may not get any rain from this at all, but the chance is there nonetheless. Highs today will still be in the upper 70s to middle 80s across the state. High Pressure takes over for Tuesday and Wednesday with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the 70s to lower 80s. The GFS is wanting to bring a warm front into the state on Thursday with some shower and thunderstorm chances returning at that time. This looks to be confined mainly to the Plains states but we can’t rule out a stray shower or storm across the far western counties of the state Thursday afternoon into Friday.

WEEKEND: Another storm system will be in the vicinity this weekend which may trigger more showers and thunderstorms at that time. The GFS though doesn’t seem too bullish on the idea, but other models have suggested that some activity is certainly possible. We’ll have to keep monitoring this over the next few days for any changes. Severe weather could be possible as suggested by the Storm Prediction Center in their extended outlooks.

END OF MONTH: Doesn’t look like it’ll be as hot as the GFS had on previous runs towards the end of the month as it is showing a slight northwesterly flow aloft here which would keep temperatures in check and chances of showers and storms possible. Of course this may change back again so we’ll continue to watch for any trends in either direction at this time.
