The Latest Drought Monitor for Iowa that was released Thursday morning shows only the far northern part of the state in abnormally dry conditions. Several counties in northern and northeast Iowa have instituted burn bans because of this. The dry area extends from NE Iowa northeastward into SE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin where D2 drought (or Severe Drought) is found. The rainfall that is expected this weekend will likely end the abnormally dry conditions not only found in northern Iowa but the rest of the state as well.
