ROUNDS OF STORMS AHEAD: Today will be the last fully dry day for a while across the state with the next system approaching from the west. Sunshine will be plentiful across the state today with readings still several degrees below average with upper 60s to lower 70s possible. Storms will roll into the state late tonight into Saturday. This will continue off and on through at least Thursday and Friday if the GFS is correct. There will be some dry period in between rounds of storms and some sunshine is possible as well. Readings Saturday will be in the 60s across the state with the cloud cover. Sunday will also be cool with 60s to near 70 with some moderation in readings as we head into the following week. Severe weather is possible with any of the rounds of thunderstorms but not this weekend, at least on an organized basis. We’ll have to watch for any changes over the next few days regarding chances of severe weather with this slow moving system over the area through Thursday.

INTO JUNE: No real trends developing as we head into the sixth month of the year. The GFS shows a ridge forming around the second week of the month that will bring some (by this point) much needed dry weather to the state. It will also warm up as well if this pans out with some seasonal readings across the state. We’ll continue to monitor for any trends that form over the next few days regarding the first few days of Meteorological Summer.
