COLD THEN HOT: Frosty this morning will give way to a quick heat burst in only 48 short hours. Today will start out nippy with readings in the 30s to near 40 across the state, with a quick rise into the 50s to middle 60s from east to west. Sunshine will be plentiful today and again on Monday with a few more clouds around on Monday as the warm air begins to move in. Monday will see readings from the 60s east to low 80s west. Tuesday will see a big jump in temperatures with 80s and lower 90s across the state. With dew points around 60, we are likely to see heat indices well above 90, perhaps mid 90s in some areas.

SLIGHT RETREAT: A cold front will move through the state Wednesday with a few isolated showers and storms around, but most of the energy will be to our north and south so the chances are about 20-30% at best. Readings will drop into the 70s to near 80 Wednesday with the slightly cooler air around and will stay in that range through the rest of the week. A storm system Thursday night into Friday may bring us another chance at showers and thunderstorms with a front that will set up across the state. This looks to continue into the weekend as well as the storm draws closer. Shower and thunderstorm chances look to increase at that time and there could perhaps be severe weather as well. It is too early to determine where and what type at this time, but we’ll have to continue to monitor the situation as we draw closer to next weekend.

TOWARD THE END: The weather pattern does look active in the extended period with several more systems possible along with seasonal temperatures at this time, however all this can change run to run so stay tuned.
