Snow and Flash Flooding Possible

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that will go into effect at Midnight Sunday morning and will expire at 1pm Sunday for the following counties, Lyon, Osceola, Dickinson, Sioux, OBrien, Clay, Plymouth, Cherokee, Buena Vista, Woodbury and Ida. Rain is expected mix with and change over to snow Saturday afternoon, some freezing rain is also possible with ice accumulations mainly staying under a tenth of an inch. Snow accumulations of 3-6 inches may be possible in the advisory area by the time the storm moves out Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile on the other side of the state, The National Weather Service has also issued a Flash Flood Watch which will go into effect at 6am Saturday morning and expire at 7pm Sunday evening for the following counties, Buchanan, Delaware, Dubuque, Benton, Linn, Jones, Jackson, Iowa, Johnson, Cedar, Clinton, Muscatine, Scott, Keokuk, Washington, Louisa, Jefferson, Henry, Des Moines, Van Buren and Lee. Rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches with isolated 3 inch totals may be possible in the watch area. With frozen ground and saturated ground, a lot of the rain may runoff into creeks and streams leading to possible flash flooding.
