SLOWLY WARMING: Sunshine will be plentiful today and for several days into the weekend as temperatures begin a slow climb to seasonal levels and above seasonal levels by the weekend. Highs today will be in the 50s to near 60 across the state, with 60s commonplace on Friday with partly to mostly sunny skies.
WEEKEND INTO NEXT WEEK: The best weekend of the year so far is forecast with partly to mostly sunny skies with temperatures well into the 70s, perhaps touching 80 in some areas. A cold front will try to move into the far northern counties of the state Sunday night into Monday morning with a few isolated showers and thunderstorms. The front will stall over the state Monday with a few showers and storms possible Monday night into Tuesday morning as the front begins to lift back northward ahead of another system approaching from the west. That system will bring another front our way by Tuesday night into Wednesday with some showers and thunderstorms along that as well. Some decent amounts of rain are possible with that system but we’re still too far to determine any amounts and or the possibility of severe weather as well. This is a storm to watch over the coming days.
BLOOMING MAY: Heading into the month of May, the GFS still shows the cut-off low, but it is farther to the northeast and wouldn’t effect us too greatly. This would keep readings near seasonal levels. There are a few chances of showers and thunderstorms intermixed as well, but no real cold air lurking so it’s within reason that we’re close to the time when everyone can begin to plant for the spring.
