The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory which goes into effect at 6pm Friday evening and will expire Saturday morning at 9am for the following counties, Black Hawk, Bremer, Butler, Cerro Gordo, Emmet, Franklin, Grundy, Hancock, Hardin, Kossuth, Marshall, Palo Alto, Tama, Winnebago, Worth and Wright. A Winter Weather Advisory has also been issued which begins at 6pm Friday and expires at Noon Saturday for the following counties, Buchanan, Benton, Linn, Iowa, Johnson, Washington, Louisa, Cedar, Muscatine, Scott, Mitchell, Howard, Winneshiek, Allamakee, Floyd, Chickasaw, Fayette and Clayton. Snow will overspread the state late this afternoon, total accumulations in the Advisory area will be between 2-5 inches, with heavier totals further to the NE. Considerable blowing and drifting snow will be possible Friday night into Saturday morning, which will lead to possible travel difficulties.
