…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS
EVENING…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SIOUX FALLS HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR A WINTRY MIX OF RAIN…FREEZING AND
SLEET…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING.

* TIMING…AS TEMPERATURES COOL…RAIN WILL LIKELY CHANGEOVER TO
SLEET AND FREEZING LATE THIS MORNING OR AFTERNOON. TONIGHT…
THERE IS SOME UNCERTAINTY AS TO HOW FAST THE WINTRY MIX WILL
CHANGEOVER TO SNOW…OR IF IT WILL CHANGEOVER AT ALL. MORE
CERTAIN…IS THAT THE PRECIPITATION SHOULD BE ALL SNOW BY AROUND
MIDDAY WEDNESDAY. THE SNOW WILL THEN LINGER INTO LATE WEDNESDAY
NIGHT.

* ACCUMULATIONS…ICE ACCUMULATIONS THIS AFTERNOON WILL BE
MINOR…BUT WILL BE ENOUGH TO CAUSE TRAVEL AND WALKING
DIFFICULTIES ON UNTREATED SURFACES. ONCE THE SNOW BEGINS…THERE
IS A POTENTIAL FOR AROUND 3 TO 5 INCHES OF SNOW LATE WEDNESDAY
AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

* WIND AND VISIBILITY…NORTH WINDS WILL AVERAGE 20 TO 35 MPH AND
PERSIST THROUGH WEDNESDAY. ONCE PRECIPITATION CHANGES TO ALL
SNOW…THESE WINDS COULD PRODUCE AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW REDUCING
VISIBILITIES BELOW A MILE AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO
MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.
