Several rivers are currently in flood or will be in flood with the rapid snowmelt that has taken place over the last number of days. A Flood Warning has been issued for the Little Sioux River at Cherokee, Spencer and Milford. A Flood Warning has also been issued for the Ocheyedan River near Spencer and for the Big Sioux River at Akron and Hawarden. A Flood Warning has been issued for the Winnebago River at Mason City. Flash Flood Warnings have been issued for the Des Moines River at Fort Dodge due to an ice jam along with the Wapsipinicon River between DeWitt and the Mississippi due to an ice jam. Several other rivers not mentioned in this post also remain under a flood warning as well. Some rain is falling in SE Iowa but amounts will generally be light.
