The Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk of severe weather for Tuesday and Tuesday night for southern Iowa mainly along and south of US Hwy 34. All modes of severe weather are possible with large hail, damaging winds and possibly a few tornadoes. The best chances for severe weather however remain south of the state from Kansas City SSW to OKC, Dallas and Waco where an upgrade to moderate risk is possible. This is still a fluid situation with model differences and is likely to change over the next 24-36 hours. In any case, this is a good reason to begin to prepare for the onslaught of severe weather season and make sure you have a weather radio and batteries and where you’ll go when and if watches and warnings are issued.
