NO WHERE NEAR AVERAGE: Temperatures are going to be at least 10 degrees or more below average for the most of the week as High Pressure settles into the area. Sunshine will abound with a few clouds around. Highs today will range from the 20s in the northern counties to near 40 in the far south.

HIT OR MISS: A storm at the end of the week will be one to watch out for across the area, however many of the models including the EURO, UKMET and GEM have the storm missing the state entirely to the south leaving Iowa with perhaps a few clouds or flurries at best. The GFS does bring some flurries in beginning Friday afternoon with the brunt of the system moving in Friday night into Saturday with some rain and or snow across mainly the southern half of the state. A break Saturday afternoon before another round moves in late Saturday night into Sunday morning with more rain and possibly a changeover to snow at that point with several inches possible through Monday. UKMET and GEM have Friday mainly dry but then develop a low in Texas that moves northeastward to just SE of St Louis Sunday evening. In any case, this is a storm that will need to be watched as models have been going back and forth with this system.

WARMS UP: Still looks warmer toward the end of the month with some more active weather ahead of us with several systems that could impact the state with precipitation, however with the model inconsistencies we have as of now, we’re only looking for any long lasting trends at this point.

NOTE: This will be the last video until Monday as I’ll be taking a hiatus from doing the videos so I can recharge and be prepared for the upcoming severe weather season this spring. We will have forecast discussions in place of these videos in the meantime.
