SUN DAY OR CLOUD DAY: Clouds will be on the increase today as a storm system approaches the state from the northwest. Some sunshine will filter through in the eastern counties through the morning and early afternoon hours before the clouds finally win over. It does look to stay dry for most of the daylight hours with perhaps some precipitation moving into NW Iowa toward evening. Highs today will be in the 30s to near 40.

A SNOW FOR ALL OR FLURRIES FOR A FEW: The storm is still on track to move into the state late Sunday into Monday. Some of the precipitation especially in the southern counties of the state may start out as a wintry mix with some snow as well. Areas under the Winter Storm Watch however should see all snow except for the far southern extent. It should become all snow during the day Monday as cold air filters in from the northwest. The snow will taper off slightly Monday afternoon to only pick up once again late Monday night through the day Tuesday as the upper level system tracks overhead. Snowfall amounts with this system look to range between 4-10″ in the Winter Storm Watch areas, with lesser amounts to the SW. This may change slightly with any little wobble the storm makes in the next 24 hours.

WARMING SPRING: The end of the week looks to see a warm up as winds turn southerly and temperatures climb back into the 40s for a good portion of the state. This will be dependent on the amount of snow we get from the system earlier in the week on top of the snow cover from the storm this past week. Another storm will move in by the weekend that could give us a slight chance at some rain and or snow across the state.

STILL LOOKS ACTIVE: The middle of the month is still looking active across the middle part of the country with a fast flow coming out of the west. Some rain and snow are possible along with some brief shots of cold air as the flow is fairly progressive. Right now none of these storms look to be of any significance but this could change as we move further into the month of March.
