SUNSHINE LATELY?: The sun looks to make a return to all of the state today with temperatures in the upper 20s to lower 30s. There will be some clouds mixed in from time to time but it will be dry. Sunday will see an increase in the cloudiness again as a storm approaches from the northwest. Highs on Sunday will be a bit warmer with 30s across the state and perhaps a few lower 40s in southwestern Iowa where little snow is on the ground.

WINTRY SPRING OR SNOWS NO BOUNDS: Precipitation will move into the western counties of the state late Sunday into Monday. The precipitation may start out as rain or a wintry mix in the southwestern counties while the NW should see all snow or perhaps a little bit of sleet. The snow and wintry mix will sweep southeast across the state on Monday with another disturbance moving through Tuesday that will continue the snow. Accumulations are likely with several inches possible. The best chances for that snow look to be in the northern and eastern counties of the state. This may change if the storm tracks shifts in any direction over the next few days. The storm will move out late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning taking the precipitation with it.

WARMING UP: Temperatures will warm up toward the end of next week as readings will likely get into the 40s for most of the state which will melt some of the snow that is currently on the ground and what will fall from the storm earlier in the week. Another storm system will move in late Friday night into Saturday with some rain and or snow at that time. Most of the moisture with that system looks to stay to our south though as the cold front moves through.

IDES OF MARCH: The active pattern is still seen on the model runs with several storm systems in the middle of the month. One quick moving cold blast with two or three systems possible at that time. We’ll continue to watch to see if this continues on future model runs, but it does look encouraging for helping with the drought.
