WELCOME TO METEOROLOGICAL SPRING: It is now Spring, but it’s not feeling like spring outside with temperatures in the 20s and 30s today into Saturday. Sunshine will return with the pesky flurries and snow showers exiting. Clouds will increase Sunday with the approach of the next storm system late Sunday night.
SNOW ME THE MONDAY: A play on words from Jerry Maguire, but Mother Nature is going to show us some snow and perhaps some wintry mix and rain as well with a system coming in from the northwest. Precipitation with this system will be around a quarter to third of an inch. It’s still a bit too early to determine snow amounts from this system but some accumulating snow is likely across mainly the northern half of the state. We’ll be able to fine tune the forecast over the weekend as the storm draws closer.
WARMING AT END: The end of next week will see a significant warm up possibly well into the 40s depending on the amount of snow cover on the ground. We will see some gusty winds out of the south mainly on Thursday. This will be ahead of the next storm system that will move in Friday.
ACTIVE MID MARCH: The GFS is still showing an active period in the middle of the month with several storm systems that may bring us some rain, snow or a mix of the two. We don’t see the big polar plunge from a few days ago, but some cold shots are possible through that time frame.
