Big Time Records Fall

Numerous records fell today from the blast of arctic cold. Spencer tied a record with a low of -27°. Sioux City set a new record this morning with a low of -20°. Burlington tied their record for the date with a low of -18°. Dubuque set a new record low for the date with a temperature of -26°. Then comes Cedar Rapids, which blew away it’s previous record low for the date with a temperature tumbling to -29°. Not only is that a record for the date, it’s also a record for the month of January AND a record low ALL TIME!. This means it has NEVER been this cold ever in Cedar Rapids since records have been kept. Numerous other records are expected to fall tomorrow morning as the high pressure moves overhead. To add to the misery, Cedar Rapids also set a record low yesterday with -22° which occurred at 11pm last night.
