A Blizzard warning will now be in effect beginning this evening and will continue through Tuesday morning for the following counties, Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Delaware, Dubuque, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Washington, Jackson, Clinton and Scott. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the same areas through this evening. A Winter Weather Advisory is now also in effect through Tuesday morning (outside the Blizzard Warning area) for the following counties, Lee, Henry, Jefferson, Des Moines and Van Buren.

Snow amounts of 1-4 inches have already fallen with at least another 1-2 inches possible before the snow ends late this evening. The wind will begin to become a major factor this evening and into tomorrow morning leading to white out conditions in rural areas. If you don’t have to travel tonight across Iowa, the best advice is to stay home.
