SUNSHINE RETURNS: Clouds will move out of the state slowly today bringing sunshine back into the sky. With that and lack of snow cover over a good portion of the state, temperatures will climb into the 30s and 40s across the area. This will continue into Wednesday as well before increasing cloudiness from the northwest late in the day signals a change in the weather pattern for the end of the week into the weekend.
DROPPING DOWN: A clipper system will move through the state late Wednesday night into Thursday. As mentioned on yesterday’s report, moisture will be somewhat limited with this system, so a few flurries or light snow showers will be about all we would see out of it. Most places will not get any accumulation from it. The winds will pick up out of the northwest however and readings will start trending downward into the 20s for highs on Friday and Saturday. Lows will be in the single digits and teens.
UPDATE ON BIG BAD NASTY: The GFS is showing the storm in about a weeks time more south than previous, thus keep most of the precipitation out of the state except for perhaps the southeastern counties of the state late Monday night into next Tuesday. However into Voo-Doo, another storm looks to be right on the heels of that one around next Thursday the 21st into Friday the 22nd. This is then followed by another clipper system a few days later and then another storm around the 27th. The screaming message however is that the pattern is looking to get more active as we head into the latter half of February as we mentioned yesterday. We see no change on our thinking on that standpoint at this time.
