After a few days of posting the year in reviews with the weather being tranquil, another storm is moving into the state. A Winter Weather Advisory that begins at 3pm this afternoon and will be in effect until 6am Sunday morning for the following counties in Iowa, Mitchell, Howard, Winneshiek, Allamakee, Floyd, Chickasaw, Fayette and Clayton. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued which begins shortly at Noon and will be in effect until 6am Sunday morning for the following counties in Iowa, Buchanan, Delaware, Dubuque, Benton, Linn, Jones, Jackson, Iowa, Johnson, Cedar and Clinton and another Winter Weather Advisory has been issued which begins at Noon and will be in effect until 9am Sunday morning for the following counties in Iowa, Black Hawk, Boone, Bremer, Butler, Calhoun, Carroll, Cerro Gordo, Crawford, Emmet, Franklin, Greene, Grundy, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Humboldt, Kossuth, Marshall, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Sac, Story, Tama, Webster, Winnebago, Worth and Wright. A Freezing Rain Advisory has been issued which begins at Noon and is in effect until 6pm this evening for the following counties in Iowa, Harrison, Shelby, Pottawattamie, Mills, Fremont and Monona.
This is for a period of Freezing drizzle or Freezing rain that is expected today and tonight across the state. Amounts will generally be light around a tenth of an inch or less. but it could cause hazardous travel conditions tonight across the state.
