HALF AND HALF: The upcoming weekend will be an interesting one across the state with sunshine and seasonably warm readings for this time of year. Highs on Saturday will be well into the 30s and 40s across the state with southwestern Iowa possibly getting close to 50. Cloudiness will increase across the state by late in the day and some showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder or two will move into the state overnight. The northern counties may see some freezing rain and sleet mixed in while the rest see rain. This will last into Sunday as a low pressure system moves through the northwestern part of the state. A cold front will sweep through during the day changing the rain to some snow before ending. Little accumulation is likely as most of the moisture will be east of the state by the time the cold air arrives. Liquid amounts of a quarter to half inch are possible with this system as it tracks across the area.
SEASONAL: Next week looks rather seasonal for mid February with highs in the 20s and 30s and lows in the upper teens and 20s. No real major storm systems are forecast at this time until perhaps the end of the week when a clipper system may bring more cold air from the northwest that may kick off some light snow showers across the state.
